2011: Year of the Rabbit…at a Gallop!

Qigong Around the World

January:  the start of 2011 brought me to Colorado to teach at my dear friend, Brian Wood’s Dragon Tao Martial Arts before traveling north to Steamboat Springs where another treasured friend, Cheri Trousil, hosted me at Humble Ranch Education & Therapy Center.  At Cheri’s ranch I have an opportunity not only to teach Qigong to the 2-leggeds, but also to do Qigong healing on her 4-legged friends – the therapy horses that are used for treatment for mobility-impaired children and adults.  What a joy to connect with these beautiful animals!

From there it was on to Toronto where workshops continued at my old kung fu brother, Sifu Rupert Harvey’s Golden Harmony Kung Fu, then at Dr. Xiaolan Zhao’s Health Center, followed by a presentation at Women’s College Hospital at the invitation of Dr. Alice Dong.  Thank you to all my dear friends, old and new, for your interest and continued support of my work. Through your efforts, Qigong is spreading and helping to empower people on a multiplicity of levels – from improved immunity, to lowered stress and increased mental, emotional and physical balance!

New Certified RLWQ Instructors in Canada!

We now have 3 newly certified Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong instructors who graduated from the Toronto certification! A big congratulations to Leny Salim-Yasuda (left) and Marie-Claire Thauvette (right) from Ottawa, and Suzie Nunes (center) of Kitchener, Ontario.  You have so impressed me with your teaching abilities, loving kindness and  desire to make a difference to the women in your community.  I know without a doubt that you will touch many lives and thank you for sharing your wonderful energy and inspiration with me! I learn as much as I teach in these programs and am blessed by your friendship and vision for the future of RLWQ!

Workshops & Certifications in February

February: after a brief stopover in Michigan where Sally Rich of the Michigan Tai Chi Association hosted me for a full-day program in Livonia, I flew to Philadelphia on the tail of a would-be snowstorm that thankfully, never materialized. “Chilly Philly” is now warming up after a full weekend of Qigong, thanks to my acupuncturist friends in Narberth, Bob and Dawn Weisbord, and Mark Nelson of the Yoga Garden.

Mark has a gorgeous space filled with light and great energy in the center of downtown Narberth.  If you are ever in the area, drop in to a Yoga or Qigong class, or get a massage done at this wonderful, heart-centered facility!

This February 13, I was in New York City at the Center for Remembering and Sharing where I taught a half day workshop for Optimum Health.  Thanks for all who joined me in filling the space with your qi and great energy!

Arenal, Costa Rica

First RLWQ Teacher Certification in Costa Rica!

After my New York stopover where I worked on video editing some new Qigong segments I’ll be making available soon, it’s on to Lake Arenal, Costa Rica for a series of workshops and the first RLWQ teacher certification in Costa Rica. Many thanks to Helena Buell for the tremendous job she is doing to organize and bring Qigong to Costa Rica.  I greatly look forward to sharing Qigong there and learning about life in this beautiful country.  There will also be an additional workshop in Dominical, in southern CR. I heard it is warm, lush and beautiful there…like my island home of Kaua’i!

Purchase  an RLWQ T-Shirt to Support Reforestation in Costa Rica!

When I was a child in school, I did a science project that I called “A World Without Trees”.  I knew even then that the world would suffer if our trees disappeared, whether by natural disaster or the abuse of humanity.  I guess it’s natural that I would take up the call as an adult to support tree planting of our rainforests…

To support this effort, my friend Helena and her son have designed a t-shirt for me that supports reforestation efforts in the Costa Rican rainforest.  Please support this project by purchasing a Radiant Lotus Qigong t-shirt as part of the proceeds goes towards the La Reserva Forest Foundation tree-planting program.  To order your t-shirt, email Helena at

Thank you all for making a difference to yourself and the lives around you, including the life of this planet.  Together we can create a better world, whether through the practice and living of Qigong or lending a helping hand where it is needed!

Hoppy/Happy Chinese New Year of the Rabbit!

I wish you much peace, joy and radiant health in the new Chinese Year of the Rabbit and look forward to “playing Qigong” in a town or city near you!  Keep coming back and checking in as I’ll be writing regularly on this blog while I’m on the road. Upcoming teaching will be  in Florida (West Palm Beach), Colorado, San Francisco, Kaua’i and Europe…

Aloha from Houston where I just finished a fabulous dinner in Humble at Pappa’s Seafood Restaurant…the food here is top-notch and Texans are so friendly!

  1. Daisy, just to make sure I understand this post, you’re saying that you are sitting around doing nothing and are bored stiff. Right?
